GESTURE PRESENTATION

Choose with your group one specific gesture or body position found in a transportation network (e.g. queueing, carrying a luggage, punching a ticket, typing on a phone, a specific seating position etc..). For this take time to first discuss with your group about which gesture you think have a strong potential for further investigation.

Our gesture: Standing up for somone on public transport

Choose an object or a system you find in public transport networks (or public space), that restricts or favours Freedom of Movement. Develop an embodiment sequence (a video of 1 min. length) related to the object (embodiment of its mechanisms, its functionality.)

FINAL PRESENTATION

From this, find a specific routine or a component that you would like to hack in order to contest the current politics of (social) mobility. For this you’re asked to develop a critical object that criticizes and responds to the environment you have been observing. The object can take the shape of a poster, a tool, a lighting system, a sign etc..Prepare a 7mn performative presentation that presents both your research and findings, critical object and text written for the theory class.
